In May I attended the 24th annual Pennwriters Craft and Career conference in Pittsburgh. There were three and a half days of workshops, critique sessions and pitch sessions with editors and agents. Aside from the great workshops, where I took pages of notes, I enjoyed meeting all the other writers. Writing is so solitary it was wonderful to connect with others who are going through the same struggles as me. Now my creative batteries have been recharged and I'm home again with fresh enthusiasm and new goals.
I recently finished a contemporary short story and am currently trying to find it a home. I've started another longer short and this one is a historical western. Hopefully that will be finished by the end of summer. My second goal for the summer is to complete my newest novel about a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter, a runaway wife and a mule who loves lemon drops. At the moment I'm bogged down in the research of train schedules and stage routes.
I won't be out too much this summer, but here is my tenative schedule.
June 18th and 19th--Corry Fest, Corry, PA (note: I won't be there, but my books will be for sale)
August 30th, 31st and September 1st--Erie County Fair, Wattsburg, PA. I will be in the Home Building signing books.
September 10th--Bridgewater Book Fest, Bridgewater, PA. This is not confirmed yet, so I will let you know as the time gets closer.
